Let Jesus be your guide through 2020

Welcome to Christ Church Cockermouth

Christ Church Cockermouth is a group of ordinary people bound together by our love of Jesus and commitment to serve him in Cockermouth and the surrounding area.

Christ Church is a vibrant modern church which enjoys trying new ideas that bring colour and inspiration into our traditional services using sound, video and symbols making services more interactive and involving.

Faith and Life

As part of our online service we have been asking some of our members what its like to live out their faith in their work and lives .

Each interview is only 5 to 8 minutes long. Have a listen , perhaps there words will resonate with you.

More interviews are available on our YouTube channel

Sunday Services

We enjoy two services each Sunday, 9am in church and 10am online.

Our 9am service in church is a short “Service of the Word” with prayers, a reading and a short talk. Please sit 'socially-distanced’ in the front half of the building wearing a face covering. It may be quite draughty as the double doors are being kept open at present, so wrap up well!

Our  Online Sunday service starts at 10am each Sunday on our online.church site, feel free to join from 9:45am to enjoy fellowship via live chat  . You can also watch at the same time without chat via our Grasmoor Mission Community YouTube Channel

For children, Rob and Chris will be sharing Children's Church and Warriors videos on the Children's Church Youtube Channel from 4:00 pm each Sunday.

Our All Age monthly Messy Church has moved online and is now available to access at anytime. Our May theme is the story of Noah and we have 10 activities for you to get involved with across the month.

Previous Services

Missed an online service, you cant catch up on all our services since the 29th March on our Grasmoor Mission Community Catchup page.

We are Re-opening Our Church

Our church is open for private prayer. Please feel welcome to attend, but be aware of social distancing that is still in place - there will be notices explaining how each church is operating when you get there.

We are open Tuesday and Thursday 10.00 am to 12.00 pm and Sunday 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm

Our Vision

Where faith grows we will be …...
more inviting of our communities,
more connected to each other,
more touched by inspired worship and
more involving of families and children.

We will develop buildings that provide accessible, comfortable, exciting and reflective places for all to discover God’s love.

(Read more about our Vision in our Vision Leaflet)

We believe that God answers prayer and so during these difficult times we are praying for Cockermouth.

If you have a particular request for prayer please let us know by emailing us or completing the form to the right. Both go to our prayer support team who will prayer for your request and contact your if you ask them to. If not asking for prayer for yourself please get the permission of the person you want us to pray for or simply tell us  their first name only.

Families, Children and young people

Families, children and young people are the future of our church at Christ Church and are always welcome.

Our children normally enjoy Children's Church in Christ Church, our All Age 4th Sunday service and Messy Church. As we are not meeting in our church buildings we have moved our Children's Church  and Messy Church online. You can find our Children's Church on our Christ Church Children's Church Youtube Channel

Outside of our Sunday gatherings, we share Jump  and Lighthouse

In addition to our regular Sunday services, we have home groups that meet weekly around Cockermouth, many of these are now meeting via Zoom online.

We thought it would be helpful if we share a list of some of the software and online resources we use or have a look at our shared resources folders

During the Covid-19 period we are not gathering in church and instead have been using Shotcut  for putting together the service video which we then upload to YouTube and stream through the Online.Church platform as we like its live chat interface and styling.

Audacity for recording audio and Shotcut  for video editing.

For managing church members data, services, volunteering and email lists we have been using Elvanto  howevere we are moving to I Know Church as its cheaper and we already use the Life Events Diary.

We use  Faithlife Proclaim to support our church services as its is collaborative, online and records sound and slides into a service movie.
